Carroll Women's Soccer Falls to Calgary 3-0

HELENA, Mont. – The Carroll College women's soccer team fell 3-0 to the University of Calgary Wednesday evening at Nelson Stadium to fall to 1-3 on the season.

The Dinos out-muscled the Saints en route to a 13-5 difference in shots and a 7-2 difference to shots on goal. Calgary's Natalie Arnett scored goals in the 27th minute and the 75th minute and Mollee Ramsay added a goal in the 36th minute.

Despite the loss, Thorvilson still believes his team is on track for another successful season and playing against talented teams like Calgary will only help them prepare for the Cascade Conference slate.

"I thought we played very well. I told the team that most times we play like we did today and that will cause a lot of problems for our opponents," Thovilson said. "This team is very similar to the University of Montana or Spring Arbor last year. Those teams cause us issues with their ability through the air and their pace.

"Nobody likes to give up three goals and lose but our focus has always been on conference play and a team like this will really help get us ready," he added. "We learn from our mistakes and take what we did well and try to build on it and take the areas that we struggled on and really focus on those areas in practice."

The Saints have a pair of non-conference games on their schedule before opening Cascade play on the road.

Carroll next faces The University of Great Falls in non-conference action on Memorial Day and Whitworth College on Sept. 11.
