Saints Volleyball Falls to UGF 3-2

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The 17th-ranked Carroll College volleyball team got off to a slow start and couldn't complete the comeback falling 25-15, 25-22, 21-25, 18-22, 15-13 to the University of Great Falls Saturday.
 
Carroll struggled in the first set, notching eight hitting errors with just nine kills for a .034 hitting percentage. The Argos rolled out to a 20-10 lead and finished off the saints 25-15.
 
The second set was a much closer affair but, tied at 16, the Argos went on a 4-1 run to take control of the set and earn the 25-22 win in set two.
 
Carroll righted the ship in the third set, notching five-straight points to start the set en route to the 25-21 win.
 
UGF started the fourth set in control with a 7-3 run but the Saints went on a 7-1 run later in the set to take control and closed with a 4-0 run to notch the match up at 25-18.
 
The Argos went on a 6-1 run early in the fifth set to take an 11-5 lead but the Saints rallied to tie it at 13. The Argos would close the match out with two-straight points to earn the win.
 
UGF's Madison Wilhelm notched 29 kills on 76 attempts with a .237 hitting percentage to lead the Argos.
 
Holly Morehouse led the Saints with 18 kills and just two errors for a .500 hitting percentage. Paige Montgomery also notched 14 kills. Jonni Dorr tallied 41 assists and 15 digs and Natalie Kassa had 35 digs.
 
The Saints fall to 7-3 in Frontier conference play and 19-6 overall. Carroll still controls its own destiny for a conference title with a one-match lead in the conference standings. Carroll closes the season with matches against Montana Western and second-place Rocky Mountain at home on senior day.
