HELENA, Mont. – The 17th-ranked Carroll volleyball team struggled to find a rhythm and fell to No. 23 Montana Tech 23-25, 18-25, 25-15, 25-21, 15-12 Thursday at the PE Center.
 
The Saints committed 35 hitting errors en route to a .124 hitting percentage, uncharacteristically low for a team, averaging .225 on the year.
 
Holly Morehouse notched 13 kills on .370 hitting percentage and Paige Montgomery had 14 kills with a .082 percentage. Jonnie Dorr had 45 assists and Natalie Kassa tallied 35 digs.
 
The Saints hit .200 in the first set and .302 in the second set as they jumped out to a 2-0 lead. In the third set they would hit -.036 and in the fourth set they would hit -.051. with 10 hitting errors.
 
Carroll took an early lead in the fifth and led 12-10 but errors again haunted the Saints as Tech capitalized on four hitting errors and a serve receive error to earn the 15-12 win.
 
"It seemed like all of our chemistry didn't show up tonight," Saints coach Moe Boyle said. "I feel like tonight was six individuals instead of a team on the floor. That's the first time we've felt that way. We started off the match with six errors and in the fifth set, we gave them their last six. Four kill errors and two receiving errors to end it."
 
The Saints retain a one-match lead on the rest of the Frontier Conference with a 5-2 record. Montana Tech and Rocky Mountain are tied for second at 4-3.
 
Carroll hosts Lewis-Clark State Friday at the PE Center at 7 p.m., the Warriors topped Carroll 3-2 on Sept. 17 but have lost six of their last seven matches since.
