HELENA, Mont. – The Carroll College men meet MSU Billings on the basketball court Sunday evening, two and a half weeks after Dec. 16, the original date that game was scheduled before the Yellowjackets were forced to cancel because of bad weather.
The game is also the first of a back-to-back with the Saints facing the first-year Centurions of Yellowstone Cristian College out of Billings on Monday.
Carroll is 8-3 after splitting a pair of games in California without leading scorer and Honorable Mention All-American
Zach Taylor because of injury. Taylor returns to the court Sunday in time for the final two non-conference games before returning to Frontier play Jan. 8, at MSU-Northern.
MSUB has won three straight and after dropping four of their previous five. The latest being a 77-75 win over Western Washington in Billings Saturday.
Four Yellowjackets average double figures with Marc Mathews leading the way at 14.8 points per game. Jace Anderson is a close second with 14.1 PPG.
The game is an exhibition game for MSUB but counts for the Saints.
Monday, the Saints host the unknown Centurions. YCC is 2-16 on the season with the only wins on the year coming against Chief Dull Knife College out of Lame Deer, Mont., and the York College (Neb.) JV. They have lost to Frontier Conference teams by an average of 42 points.
"We are excited to have back-to-back home games," head coach
Carson Cunningham said. "MSU Billings, up first, has started 3-1 in the GNAC. They present a tough challenge. The following night we play Yellowstone Christian, a young and hungry program. It's great to round out our non-conference slate at home."
The Saints host the Jackets at 7 p.m. at the PE Center Sunday and the Centurions at 7:30 p.m. Monday, also at the PE Center.
