Saints Volleyball hosts UGF, Montana Western

HELENA, Mont. – The Carroll College volleyball team emerged from the Five Points Bank Invitational with three-straight sweeps over tough competition and a new sense of confidence.

The question that the Saints can answer this week as the Saints open Frontier Conference play is if they can maintain the confidence or if there is more work to be done.

"The idea of being home will hopefully bring our confidence to a stable spot," head coach Moe Boyle said. "For a while we were trying to see where we were going to be. It seemed like it all came together in Nebraska and I am excited to see if we can keep it going in the right direction."

The Saints host the 25th ranked University of Great Falls Thursday and Montana Western Friday. Boyle looks forward to the change of pace compared to the early-season tournaments.

"For the first few weeks you go into the week looking at the entire tournament and it is hard to make adjustments match to match," Boyle said. "Now we can look at matches and get ready for our opponents and make adjustments."

The Argos will be the seventh team that the Saints have face that is currently ranked in the NAIA Top 25. Boyle had a chance to watch UGF at the Big Sky Challenge.

"They play with a lot of emotion," Boyle said.  "A team that plays like that can be very dangerous when they get hot.  What we have to do is maintain our composure and make sure we stay focused each play. Regardless of what happens on the other side of the net we have to take care of our own business."

Friday's opponent Montana Western brings a 4-7 record into the matchup and lost four of the last five matches.

The Saints and Argos take the floor at the PE Center at 7 p.m. Thursday.
