HELENA, Mont. – The NAIA's longest win streak came to an end Friday night as the No. 24 Carroll College women fell for the first time this season 64-54 to No. 19 Lewis-Clark State after struggling from the field.
The Saints outrebounded Lewis-Clark 39-22 but were just 14 of 56 (25 percent) from the field. Including 6 of 28 in the in the second half.
The long month of November, which included ten games away from Helena, including two early exhibition games, caught up to the Saints as they struggled to get the ball to fall.
"I feel bad for our kids," Sayers said. "They battled hard through that November and they just didn't have their legs back. They battled. They did everything they needed to do but the shots just didn't go down."
Carroll did have a strong showing on the free throw line, going 23 of 27 (85.2 percent).
Katie Estey tallied 14 points to lead the Saints and
Cassidy Hashley scored 11.
Michaela Dowdy had a strong performance for the Saints for the second-consecutive game pulling down a game-high 13 rebounds and adding nine points.
The Saints return to action Wednesday, Dec. 9, when they host Montana Western at the PE Center in Helena.
