Saints Fall to Lewis-Clark in Frontier Semifinals

HELENA, Mont. – Carroll College volleyball were swept by Lewis-Clark 25-17, 27-25, 25-22 in the semifinals of the Frontier Conference Volleyball Tournament – Presented by Lee Enterprises.
 
Lewis-Clark took control early and never looked back as they cruised in the first set.
 
Carroll's best chance to get back into the match came in the second set when they had two match points, leading 24-23 and 25-24 but Lewis-Clark won the last three points to earn the 27-25 set victory.
 
Carroll scored the first four points of the third set but the Warriors battled back to take a 7-6 lead and never trailed for the rest of the set en route to the 25-22 win to close out the match and advance to the Conference final against Rocky Mountain College.
 
Emily Sullivan and Holly Morehouse led the Saints with 11 kills, Jonni Dorr paced the offense with 26 assists and Rebecca Sweeney tallied 15 digs.
 
Carroll closes out the season with a 19-12 record and a regular season conference co-championship.
 
Head coach Moe Boyle is excited with the season that the Saints had but is disappointed with how it ended.
 
"I feel bad for our seniors especially," Boyle said. "We played some great matches this season but today we had a really disappointing showing. I know we could have play much better so it is frustrating to end it like that."
 
Carroll closes out the season which looked bleak early, the saints were 3-7 in their first 10 matches of the season. The Saints then won nine straight and earned a conference co-championship on the road against Rocky in the regular-season finale.
 
The Saints also had a strong showing in the Frontier all-conference awards including four returning players receiving honors highlighted by Emily Sullivan's freshman of the year honors.
