CALDWELL, Idaho – Carroll College football closed out the season with a 35-21 road loss against the College of Idaho at Simplot Stadium in Caldwell.
The Saints took an early lead when they opened the game with a 9-play, 81-yard drive capped off by a
Dylan Green 1-yard touchdown run to go up 7-0. College of Idaho would answer with three unanswered touchdowns all three coming on a long play.
C of I scored on a 60-yard touchdown run from Kyle Merritt, an 87-yard touchdown pass from Teejay Gordon to Tyler Higby and a 34-yard touchdown from Gordan to Higby.
Carroll answered with a 75-yard drive and a 3-yard touchdown run by Green to cut the lead to 21-14 with 11:24 left in the half. That score would hold through the break.
C of I scored on their first drive of the second half on a 35-yard pass from Gordon to Shayne Robinson to push its advantage to 28-14.
The Saints cut the C of I lead to 28-21 with 4:28 left in the third on a 45-yard touchdown pass from
Mac Roche to
Troy Arntson but that is as close as the Saints would come.
College of Idaho would add a touchdown on a Teejay Gordon keeper with just 29 second to play to cap off the 35-21 win.
Roche was 17-of-33 for 293 yards a touchdown and an interception.
Ryan Walsh had 85 yards on 21 carries, he also had six catches for 75-yards.
Dylan Green scored two touchdowns on 22 yards.
Arntson tallied 105 yards on four receptions and a touchdown.
College of Idaho racked up 506 yards of offense with 298 passing and 208 rushing.
