Saints Play UMW in Opening Round of Frontier Tournament

HELENA, Mont. – Carroll College opens the Frontier Conference Tournament against Montana Western Friday at 5 p.m. at the PE Center.

Carroll earned the second-seed after defeating Rocky Mountain 3-2 last Saturday evening in Billings to earn a share of the Frontier Conference Crown. The Bears earned the top seed because of a 5-4 set advantage over the Saints.

Carroll hopes to keep that momentum going against the Bulldogs who they swept in both meetings this season.

Montana Western isn't a cake-walk for the Saints. UMW only tallied one Frontier win on the season but it happened to be against the 13th-ranked Battlin' Bears.

Along with the second-seed in the tournament, Carroll also gets the privilege to host the rotating tournament.

Other opening-round matches Friday include No. 4 University of Great Falls (7-5, 25-9) against No. 5 Montana Tech (6-6, 18-11) at 2 p.m. and No. 3 Lewis-Clark State (8-4, 19-11) against No. 6 MSU-Northern (2-10, 10-18) at 7 p.m.

Rocky, who received a bye in the first round, will face the lowest remaining seed at 11 a.m. Saturday in one semifinal. The other semifinal, between the next two highest seeds remaining, takes place at 1 p.m.

The championship match is set for 7 p.m.

Tickets are $15 per day or $25 for an all-session pass.

Live video streaming and Live stats will be available via the Tournament Central page on CarrollAthletics.com.
