HELENA, Mont. – Carroll College volleyball overcame two sluggish sets to earn a five-set victory over Lewis-Clark at the PE Center Saturday afternoon.
Kathleen Mulligan had 16 kills and to lead the Saint attack and Sarah Roshak added 12. Jonni Dorr led Carroll with 24 assists and Natalie Kassa had 15 digs to pace the Saints.
Carroll took the first two sets in convincing fashion. CC won the first set 25-16 and the second 25-22.
In the third set, the Saints led early but fell 25-23. In the fourth set, LCSC dominated from the first serve take a 9-1 early lead before the Saints responded. The Warriors won the set 25-15.
With the match now tied and momentum squarely on the Warriors side, the Saints needed a something to turn the tides. The answer came from Calli Prestwood. Prestwood served 10-straight points for the Saints en route to a 15-5 win in the fifth set.
Caroll moves into sole position of the second spot in the Frontier Conference with a 13-7 record and a 5-1 Frontier Conference mark. Lewis-Clark sits right behind the Saints with a 3-2 Frontier record (8-7 overall).
Carroll next faces No. 1 Rocky Mountain in Billings on Friday Oct. 3. Rocky is 6-0 in Frontier Conference play.
