Bohlander lead Saints over UGF 2-1

HELENA, Mont. – Kristyn Bohlander came off the bench to score two goals and lead the Carroll College Saints to a 2-1 victory over the University of Great Falls in Frontier Conference action, Saturday afternoon at Nelson Stadium.

The two teams battled in the middle of the field early in the match.  Before the goal there were only two shots, both by Carroll.

Bohlander entered in the 21st minute and scored her first goal in the 26th minute with an assist from Katey Friedt.

The Argos equalized in the 41st minute when UGF's Madison Quinn emerged from a scrum and sent the ball past the Saints' goalkeeper.

In the 59th minute Bohlander scored her second goal of the game to give the Saints a permanent lead.

The Saints had opportunities late in the second half, including two great shots from Bohlander that were saved by the UGF goalkeeper.

The Saints defense held UGF without a shot in the second half.

"I think our defense did a great job of limiting opportunities," head coach Dave Thorvilson said. "They really stepped up the pressure against a good squad."

The loss was the first in six matches for Great Falls (4-3-1).

"I think we did a good job matching UGF's intensity," Throvilson said. "They had won four straight games and were pretty fired up coming in. I am proud of my team for our performance today."

The Saints outshot UGF 15-2 and 8-2 in shots on goal. Jocelyn Morris made six saves on the game for UGF while Carroll's Jamie Carter made one.

Carroll College (7-1-1) has eight days off before facing their second-consecutive Frontier Conference opponent at Rocky Mountain College
