If the Saints were looking for a confidence booster, they found it. Hosting Walla Walla University at Nelson Stadium, the first-year Carroll College men's soccer team put on an offensive showcase, rolling to an 11-0 victory over the Wolves.
It was over early Thursday. Of that, Arturo Valle made sure. One of the few older players on a freshman-dominated roster, the junior from Porta Vallarta, Mexico, turned a 1-0 Saints lead 15 minutes in into a blowout with four, rapid-fire goals.
After Helena's Isaac Bostrom scored the fastest goal in program history just 50 seconds in -- more on him later -- Valle took over. In the 15th minute, he took a feed from the speedy Jose Mena and buried it for a 2-0 lead. Three minutes later, he scored again. Eleven minutes later: Valle. A minute after that? Yup. Valle.
