The 2018 season is Ryan Utsey's first year as the head coach of men's and women's cross country and sixth year with the Carroll College Cross country and track and field program.
A 2013 graduate of Carroll College (Biology/Pre-Med), Coach Utsey was one of the original members of the Saints cross country men's team when he joined the program in 2008. His career highlights include: member of 2012 Frontier Conference men's championship team and NAIA cross country national qualifying team. Additionally, Coach Utsey was the first member of the Saints track and field program to qualify for the marathon at the 2013 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. He also owns the school record in the event, 2:52.57. Coach Utsey spent his first 2.5 years serving as the cross country assistant coach and then transitioned to working with the jumps and multi-events.
He is a native of Spokane, Washington and a graduate of Lewis and Clark High School. During high school he ran for coach Michael Lee.
