RICHLAND, Wash. - The Carroll College Golf teams wrapped up first day play at the Columbia Basin College Invitational on Monday night with the Women sitting in second, and the Men in the middle of the pack heading into the final round at Meadow Springs Country Club.

With 36 holes under their belts, the Fighting Saints are right in the hunt for some hardware on the Women's side of the action. Led by an outstanding breakout performance by Addison Slivinski (Montpelier, Idaho / FR), the Saints put themselves in great position to potentially capture their first team title since their Frontier Conference Championship in April of 2021.

Slivinski sits just one shot back of the lead with one round to go, posting a pair of her best scores all season. The Freshman was +29 on the day, totaling 173 on day one with rounds of 88-85. Joining her in the top-five, Ellie Stastny (Murtaugh, Idaho / SO) sits at +35 (90-89-175). Allie Stastny (Murtaugh, Idaho / SO) rounded out the Carroll counting scores on Monday, finishing the day tied for 18th with rounds of 96-93 (189, +21).

The Carroll Men began play nearly an hour after the Women with the event's tee-time format. Meadow Springs proved a plenty good challenge for the large field, and as a result a large portion of the Men's competitors were unable to finish second round play before darkness fell. Three Men completed their rounds - Kyle Kennah (Laurel, Mont. / FR) posted rounds of 85-79 (+20), TJ Fierling (North Bend, Ore. / JR) shot 82-85 (+23), and Tanner Cromwell (Anaconda, Mont. / SO) went 84-85 (+25), while three more (Reinke, Slivinski, Hammond) will take to the course at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow morning to resume play and finalize their second rounds.

Upon completion of the second round tomorrow morning, both the Men and Women will begin third round play with an 11 a.m. shotgun start.
