Helena, Mont. – The Carroll College Track and Field team opens the outdoor season at the Yellowjackets/Battlin Bears Open in Billings, Mont. on Saturday March 21.
It will be a small squad for the opener with 9 athletes competing in the throwing events while the full group will open at the Al Manuel Open on March 27-28.
For the men, Hunter Gum will throw the Shot Put and the Discus. On the women's side, 6 athletes will also throw both Shot and Discus (Abigail McBeain, Shelby Tadlock, Hailey Herda, Olivia Maunu, Hannah Schoen, and Grace Horner). Madison Lewis will also Shot Put while Callie Gembala will throw the Discus.
McBeain was ranked in the Top 25 for NAIA for much of the Indoor Season in the Shot Put and will look to improve on her mark during Outdoor. Excitement is high for a strong Discus group that has been eagerly awaiting the addition of the event with the start of the Outdoor Season.
Events for the Saints will begin at noon on Saturday.
