CLARKSTON, Wash. - The Carroll College Golf teams wrapped up day one play at the Warrior Spring Classic, hosted by Lewis-Clark State at the Red Wolf Golf Club in Clarkston.
Wet and rainy conditions were in store for the Fighting Saints on their first day of their second event in the last week, as they opened play alongside several teams from throughout the Cascade and Frontier Conferences.
Stella Claridge (Kalispell, Mont. / SR) and
Tanner Cromwell (Anaconda, Mont. / SO) led their respective teams on day one. Claridge enters the final round in tie for 16th in the individual competition following her opening round 85 (+13), while Cromwell's five birdie first day saw him post rounds of 75-76 (+7) to end the day at No. 22 on the leaderboard.
One stroke behind Claridge,
Ellie Stastny (Murtaugh, Idaho / SO) sits 16th with a 14-over round of 86. Her twin sister
Alli Stastny (Murtaugh, Idaho / SO) finished +17 (89), while
Addison Slivinski (Montpelier, Idaho / FR) and
Maddy Olson (Spokane, Wash. / JR) each posted matching rounds of 93 (+21).
Kyle Kennah (Laurel, Mont. / SO) is tied for 34th after first day action, shooting rounds of 75-80 to sit +11.
TJ Fierling (North Bend, Wash. / JR) is four strokes back of Kennah at +15 (79-80), while
Hudson Reinke (Filer, Idaho / SO) rounded out the Carroll scorers with a two-round total of +18 (78-84).
The Carroll Men are sitting in eighth place in the team competition with a two-round total of +50 (307-319), while the Women are in fourth place at +65 (353). Host school LC-State sits atop the leaderboard on both the Men's (-15) and Women's (+18) side of the action.
Both teams will hit the links again for final round play at Red Wolf Golf Club, with a shotgun start slated for 9:30 a.m. (MDT).
