Brookings, S.D. – Both Saints Track & Field teams placed 5
th at the inaugural Frontier Conference Indoor Championships in Brookings, S.D.
Carroll's men garnered multiple Top 8 finishes despite a few tough breaks across the day.
Carson Krack ended the meet as the top overall point scorer across all men's teams as his 6
th place finish in the 60m Hurdles brought him to 27.5 points. The race set a new personal record for Krack in the event, advancing his school record set twice earlier this season. Additionally,
Jackson Barney and
Jake Jamieson went 5 and 8 in the Pole Vault, and
Hunter Gum placed 6
th in the Shot Put with a season's best.
It was a strong day for men's distance and middle distance.
Jack Jensen's final kick for the 800m win highlighted Day 2 for the Saints. Jensen also won the Frontier Outdoor 800m in the spring making it two straight championships for the sophomore.
Oren Arthun placed 5
th in the Mile and 8
th in the 800 for a great double. While Arthun's mile time did not quite surpass his altitude converted personal record, his fastest ever raw time moved him into 6
th on Carroll's Top 10 Lists.
Wyatt Ehredt placed 6
th in the 600m, and three individuals scored in the 3000m (
Zack Gacnik – 5
th,
Brycen Gardner – 6
th, and
Oliver Morris – 8
th). Morris and
Conrad Schruth ran personal bests over the distance.
The Saints women also scored across a wide variety of events.
Claire Bucklin placed 5
th in the 60m Hurdles,
Abigail McBeain placed 6
th in the Shot Put, and
Anna Hume placed 8
th in the Triple Jump. There were two scorers in the 600m (
Ellie Baxter – 5
th,
Isabelle Ruff – 7
th). Baxter's time set a lifetime best while
Faye Holland's season's best in the 800m placed her 5
th.
The highest point-scoring event on the track for Day 2 for the women was the 3000m.
Audrey vanWestrienen achieved the sole women's All-Conference selection of the day, placing 3
rd in a personal record.
Ryah O'Dell also placed with a lifetime best in 8
th. Both vanWestrienen and O'Dell moved onto the Carroll record board in 9
th and 10
th respectively. Three additional teammates (
Nikki Nau,
Jayna Boonstra,
Amelia Mayes) fell outside the scoring but still ran their fastest times ever.
Both of Carroll's 4x400m Relay Teams placed to close out the meet. The women finished in 4
th and the men in 5
th.

Most of the track & field squad will turn their eyes towards outdoor season.
Tucker Monaco (Pole Vault, Heptathlon),
Carson Krack (Heptathlon), and
Brynn Wandle (Pole Vault) will compete at the NAIA Indoor National Championships on March 5-7.
