GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Carroll Cross Country Saints ran a slew of personal records at the NAIA Great Lakes Challenge on Saturday October 26 in Grand Rapids, Mich.

The No. 25 men placed 14th overall, beating No. 24 Olivet Nazarene. A deep competitive field resulted in a tight race ahead of Carroll - they fell just behind RV Cornerstone and RV Rocky Mountain College.

Zack Gacnik placed 4th overall for the men, and Connor O'Hara was just outside the Top 20 in 23rd. Both men ran personal records. Oliver Morris and Daniel Koralewski also set personal bests, running 3rd and 4th with breakout days for the Saints.

The No. 21 women placed 13th, knocking off No. 18 Aquinas. They were surpassed by No. 22 & 23 Goshen and Marian as well as RV Rocky Mountain College and RV Montana Tech.

Hannah Sempf was the top finisher for the Saints in 47th. She ran a personal record as did Madalen Shipman in 4th for Carroll and Sydney Lamb in 5th.

"We really tried to focus on the process and actions we can control for this meet," said Head Coach Shannon Flynn. "It wasn't the overall result we were hoping for, but I'm confident we're going to learn from it. We put a few more pieces of the puzzle together and had some amazing individual performances, so we need to keep trusting ourselves and our training as we come into the post-season," she added.

It will be a quick turnaround for the Saints with the Frontier Conference Championships taking place in Billings, Mont. in 10 days. Races will kick off at Amend Park at 1:00 pm on Wednesday November 6.
