Helena, Mont. – Carroll Track & Field heads to Missoula, Mont. for the Montana Open this Friday and Saturday.
The meet will be the last before the Frontier Conference Outdoor Championships next week in Billings, Mont. With the postseason competition so imminent, the Saints will travel a smaller squad to Missoula, and many individuals will only compete in one event. 33 women and 19 men are entered in the meet.
On Saturday, the 3000m Steeplechase will serve as the Frontier Championship scoring competition for that event. Brycen Gardner and Daniel Koralewski will compete for the men and Hannah Sempf, Erika Arthur, and Sydney D Lamb for the women. Gardner narrowly missed the NAIA National Qualifying Standard when he ran the Steeplechase two weeks ago at the Whitworth Peace Meet.
Several other individuals will be in action who have also approached the Qualifying Standards over the past few weeks including Chloe Gallagher (Pole Vault), Madde Boles (High Jump), and Katelyn Christensen (Javelin). Multiple Saints who qualified for the NAIA Indoor Championships are chasing the tougher outdoor qualifying marks as well. This weekend that list includes Paige Baxstresser (400m), Natalie Yocum (800m), Tate Kauffman (Triple Jump), Josh Smalley (Pole Vault), and Van Gottwals (800m).
"This is the last weekend to prepare and improve for the Conference Championships," said Head Coach Harry Clark. "We're focused on resting and sharpening up so we can have our best performances of the year over these next few meets," he added.
Hammer and Javelin will take place on Friday with all running events and the remainder of field events on Saturday starting up at 11:00 am Mountain Time. The full schedule for the Montana Open is available below:

In addition to the group traveling to Missoula, Brett Glaser will be competing in the Decathlon at the Red Raider Open in Orange City, Iowa. Glaser is currently ranked 5th nationally and will look to improve his score in hopes of remaining in the Top 16 in the NAIA and qualifying for the Outdoor Championships. The multi-event will begin at 1:00 pm Central Time on Friday and 9:00 am Central on Saturday.
