Gary Marshall

Women's Cross Country | 08/25/22 | 5:34 PM

HELENA, Mont. – The NAIA announced its preseason rankings this week for both men's and women's cross country. Carroll College is projected at 14th nationally for the women and 26nd nationally for the men.

Both Carroll's women and men won the Frontier Conference Championship in fall of 2021 to earn automatic bids to the NAIA National Championships. At Nationals in Vancouver, Wash. the women finished 16th and the men finished 26th. Carroll graduated only one senior from the two squads and returns the largest group of upperclassmen the team has seen in the last five years. The senior group includes multi-time All-Americans Reghan Worley and Natalie Yocum and Outdoor Track 2022 National Qualifier Van Gottwals.

A panel consisting of one head coach from each conference voted the on national poll.  Carroll Head Coach Shannon Flynn will take on rating duties for the men for the first time this season. Points are awarded based on rankings from the raters. Additional Top 25 ratings will take place on Sept. 22, Oct. 6, Oct. 13, Oct. 27, and Nov. 8.

The Saints will open the season on September 2 in Bozeman, Mont. at the MSU Bobcats Twilight Meet. They will then have a meet in Helena on September 12 for the Frontier Conference Preview.
