Helena, Mont. – Saints Track & Field will compete in their only home meet this Thursday and Friday at the Trudnowski Open at Vigilante Stadium.
Carroll will have 66 individuals in action for the meet including 28 men and 38 women. The athletes will be aiming for more national qualifiers to add to the current list of five (
Lee Walburn – Decathlon,
Nikki Krueger – Shot Put,
Garrett Kocab – Discus & Shot Put,
Chad Hemsley – 400m Hurdles,
Shamrock Campbell – Triple Jump).
Eyes will be on Carroll's previous national competitors:
Brett Glaser in the multi,
Josh Malone in High Jump,
Chloe Gallagher in the Pole Vault,
Madde Boles in High Jump, and the Women's 4x800 Relay of
Elly Machado,
Kate Picanco,
Reghan Worley, and
Natalie Yocum. Other potential highlights include senior
Broder Thurston who ran a personal record and narrowly missed qualifying in the 400m last meet and the Men's 4x800 Relay of
Aidan Jarvis,
James Normandeau,
Jonah Fisher, and
Van Gottwals in their first qualification attempt this year in an event that is somewhat rarely contested.
This week's Decathlon and Heptathlon will score for the Frontier Conference Outdoor Championship Meet next week. Walburn and Glaser will compete in the Decathlon for the men and
Makayla Goffena will take part in her first ever Heptathlon for the women.
"This meet is always one of our favorites of the year since the athletes are able to show off their hard work at home," said Head Coach
Harry Clark. "We're also getting ready for the Conference Championships next week so this is a great meet to sharpen up and put on the finishing touches."
Thursday's Decathlon and Heptathlon begin at 10:00 am Mountain Time. On Friday, the multi-events start at 10:00 am, field events at 11:00 am, and running events at 12:00 pm Mountain Time. There will be a senior recognition ceremony at 11:45 am on Friday.
