Helena, Mont. – The Carroll College cross country team races at the Yellowjacket/Battlin' Bears Open on Friday, October 8. The race comes on the heels of the latest NAIA cross country poll Thursday morning which showed the women and men nationally ranked at 25th and 24th respectively.

The Saints will travel 10 women and 10 men to the flat, lower elevation meet. The teams will race familiar Frontier Conference foes in Rocky Mountain College, Montana Western, Montana Tech, Providence, and MSU-Northern as well as NCAA competition in MSU-Billings, Black Hills State University, and the University of Montana. The Carroll men narrowly edged MSU-B by one point two weeks ago and will expect tough competition again this week. The Carroll women placed behind Montana Tech at the Montana Open after beating the Diggers in the season opening race - setting up a rivalry for the remainder of the season.

"We are really in the thick of the semester academically, so this week we have focused on leaning into adversity and discomfort," said Head Coach Shannon Flynn. "We're hoping to apply those attitudes to running as well, especially in the late portions of the race. With the fast course design and competition, it's a great opportunity to run fiercely and put our hard work on display, so we want to take advantage of that."

The women's 5k will start at 11:00 am at Amend Park, and the men's 8k will begin at 11:45 am.
