HAVRE, Mont. -- The Carroll College Fighting Saints opened the cross country season with a pair of team wins on Friday at the Frontier Conference Preview.

"I'm so proud of how both teams executed and competed today," Saints coach Shannon Flynn said. "They highlight was seeing them run as packs and hearing how excited they were about the energy that generated. They ran focused and gritty and for each other. I know the work they put in over many months and through much uncertainty, and it is fun to see them enjoy the rewards of that. It's a start to be celebrated, but now we need to stay hungry and keep working and growing." 

The race was run at the Prairie Farms Golf Course north of Havre. 

Natalie Yocum paced the Saints women, finishing third overall in a time of 19:16.30. 

Reghan Worley came in fourth in a time of 19:37.50, while McKenna Bomengen placed fifth with a time of 19:42. 

Elly Machado's seventh-place finish in a time of 19:52.50 and Katelyn McKay's eighth place in a time of 20:12.60 rounded out the Saints' top five. 

The Saints women placed first with 27 places, besting Montana Western's 50 and Montana Tech's 61.

On the men's side, Spencer Swaim and Connor O'Hara finished first and second among Frontier Conference runners in times of 26:53.70 and 26:57.90, respectively. 

Carroll placed five of its runners in the Top 12, as James Normandeau placed sixth overall (fifth among scoring runners) in a time of 27:23.20, while Jonah Fisher was right behind in seventh (six among scorers) in a time of 27:35.70. 

Connor Bawden placed 13th (12th among scorers).

The men took first with 26 places, beating out second-place Rocky, which scored 55. 

The Saints' next meet is September 24th in Helena.
