HELENA, Mont. -- The No. 20-ranked Carroll College Fighting Saints women's basketball team hosts Dickinson State in their home opener on Friday.
"We are extremely fortunate and excited to have a home game this week," Saints coach
Rachelle Sayers said. "Our players have been so committed to their COVID protocols in order to get to this point. We look at each game as a blessing. It is definitely not something we will take for granted as we know that things could change at any time."
The Saints (2-0) picked up two wins to open up the season back on November 6-7, defeating Dakota State and Concordia Nebraska in Seward, Nebraska.
"Our players are excited to face an opponent after being without a game for the last 12 days," Sayers said. "With finals approaching this weekend, it will be a great jump start into finishing this semester strong. Dickinson has already played five games on the season, and so we expect a very competitive matchup. Our size should be a strength for us but we will need to do a good job keeping them in front of us and off the foul line."
The Saints are led in scoring by sophomore
Jamie Pickens's 17.5 points per game.Pickens earned the Frontier Conference Player of the Week honor in her first weekend as a Saint.
Dickinson State (2-3) is led by Lilly Kelley's 9.8 points per game.
Fans will not be allowed in attendance as Carroll College works closely with our local health department to ensure we can maintain a safe environment. The games will be streamed on
YouTube. Tipoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
