Carroll track adds five qualifiers at Providence Open

FULL RESULTS
HELENA, Mont. -- The Carroll College women's relay team and senior pole vaulter Mika Robinson became the final Fighting Saints to qualify for the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championship on Thursday at the Providence Open in Great Falls, Montana.

On a day with high wind gusts and chilly temperatures, the relay team -- made up of seniors Monica White, Keely Ehmann and junior Brooke Endy and sophomore Elly Machado -- ran a 3:55.40 to comfortably earn the NAIA B-Standard.

"(The weather) didn't stop them from dropping the hammer and getting going," Saints coach Harry Clark said. "They knew it was their last chance and they treated it as such."

Senior Mika Robinson vaulted 3.55 meters to earn the NAIA B-Standard in the pole vault.

The 4x400 relay and Robinson's performances highlighted the day for the Saints, who were traveling with a limited squad due to the rigors of academics ahead of finals week. With their qualifications, the Saints will send 15 individuals to the national meet on May 23 in Gulf Shores, Alabama.

Freshman Chad Hemsley ran a 54.40 in the 400-meter hurdles to improve his qualification time.
