Defensive Player of the Week: Lorence Dela Cruz, Carroll

Dela Cruz, a senior guard from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, was selected as the Defensive Player-of-the-Week.

He was a key contributor in Carroll's big weekend, proving to be a menace on the defensive end in a pair of Carroll home victories over No. 20 Montana Tech and Montana Western.  Dela Cruz became the first Saint since NAIA online records began in 2003-04 to record six or more steals in four different games, coming away with seven steals in the Fighting Saints' 80-60 win over UMW (one shy of his high mark of eight steals earlier this season).

Dela Cruz also added a pair of steals in Carroll's 61-59 win over Montana Tech, helping secure a season sweep of the Orediggers. he finished the week averaging 4.5 steals and 2.0 defensive rebounds per game.

This is Dela Cruz's second career Erck Hotels / Frontier Conference Player of the Week award, and the fifth time that a Fighting Saint has earned the honor this season (Dela Cruz twice, Kellen Harriosn three times).
