A 6’5” forward from Mountain View, Calif., Rock Carlson played two years with Carroll’s cagers. He achieved several distinctions as a sixth man his junior season, including leading the team in scoring and making All-Conference. Nicknamed “Super Sub,” Carlson was first off the bench every game and led the team with an average of 13.7 points per game. He was also No. 1 in field goal (56.4%) and free throw (79.8%) accuracies, and was selected second team All-Frontier. As a senior, he bumped up to first team All-Conference and All-District, while helping the Saints (20-8, 10-2) to the 1977 Conference championship. 

Carlson again paced the Hilltoppers in scoring (18.5 ppg), and FG (57.2%) and FT (80.7%) accuracies. He averaged 5.4 rebounds and ranked No. 2 on the team in assists. Rock scored 20-plus points 12 times and 30 or more three times, with a high 35 counters vs. Northern Montana. In two outings vs. Eastern, he achieved a 27-point, 14-rebound effort, and in a 26-point game he went 10-10 at the free throw line. Carlson left the program with a CC career record of 56.9% field goal accuracy.
