A 6’2” guard from Shelby, Paul Dumas garnered four varsity hoops letters on The Hilltop. After spending two seasons on the bench – averaging 3.8 points with 61 assists as a freshman, and 5.9 points with 49 dishes in 1979-80 – Dumas served as a part-time starter and the team’s sixth man his junior and senior years.
In 1981-82, he was team’s fourth-leading scorer at 9.1 ppg, while passing for 52 assists. His final season, Paul averaged 8.0 points. Over the course of his last two years, he posted six 15-plus point games, with a high of 24 counters vs. Eastern Washington in 1981. “Paul Dumas was one of the best leaders I ever coached,” stated CC coach John Driscoll.
