Mike Dagenais thrilled local fans with his long touchdown runs for Carroll in the late 1980s. As a sophomore with the Saints in 1988, he was the third-leading punt returner in the league. He helped Carroll to an undefeated 9-0 regular season and a first round win in the NAIA playoffs over Central Washington. Dagenais was named first team All-Frontier.
As a senior, he averaged 201 total yards per game, while producing 14 touchdowns. The 5-foot-9, 167-pounder was chosen as the 1990 first team all-Frontier quarterback. For his career, Dagenais accounted for five TD runs of 40 yards or more yards.
After galloping for 264 yards and three sprints to the house in a 73-25 victory over Tech his senior year, Oredigger coach Bob Green quipped, āIām just very happy that Mike Dagenais is finally graduating.ā
