Mike Calnan (1985-88) was a four-year starter at defensive back for Coach Bob Petrino's Saints. He was a two-time All-Frontier Conference selection and helped Carroll win four straight league championships. As a senior in 1988, Calnan was selected team captain and went on the earn All-District honors. His career record as a Saint was a remarkable 36-6 and also included four straight appearances in the NAIA playoffs. The 5-10, 185-pounder from Kalispell was a tremendous hitter and led the team in tackles as a junior with 125 total tackles, including 80 solo stops, while picking off four passes along with 12 pass deflections and two sacks. One of his top performances came in the NAIA playoffs with 14 tackles in a first round win over Dickinson State. As a senior, Calnan posted 78 total tackles and four interceptions, leading the Saints to 10 straight victories and a first round playoff win (28-7) over Central Washington.
