Biegler was a wide receiver for the Saints from 1986-89. Although he never played high school football (he was an all-state basketball player at Mount Helena Christian Academy), Biegler became a collegiate grid All-American and made it to the Canadian Football League. After transferring to Carroll from George Fox College in Oregon, Biegler tried out for coach Bob Petrino's football team and ended up starting all four years. He received three straight first team all-conference wide receiver selections, from 1987-89. In 1989, he made first team All-District 12 and was named second team NAIA Division II All-American. Biegler was offered a free agent signing with the New England Patriots, but chose to play for the CFL Saskatchewan Rough Riders. "Mark Biegler was a good athlete, and he paid his dues in the weight room," coach Petrino said. "He just kept getting better and better."
