Kevin VanNice (1995-99) is considered one of the most athletics perimeter players ever to play in the Frontier Conference. He was a four-year letter winner and three-year starter for Coach Gary Turcott, finishing his career as the school's fifth leading scorer with 1,776 points. VanNice was a second team All-Frontier performer as a sophomore and was named as a first team pick as both a junior and senior. He went on to earn All-America accolades in each of his final two seasons. A 6-2 standout from Helena (Capital), VanNice averaged 14 points per game as a sophomore, 18 his junior year, and 19 points his senior season. As a sophomore in 1997, VanNice etched his name in Carroll lore when, in the Frontier Championship versus MSU-Northern, he took an in-bounds pass with the clock winding down in overtime, drove the entire length of the floor, and canned the winning bucket on a tough contested shot with four seconds left. The victory propelled the Saints to their first National Tournament in 31 years.
