Sanger, California, native Jack Sanders, a 6’3” junior guard/forward transfer from Fresno State College, was selected second team All-Frontier Conference both seasons on the Hilltop. In 1971, he averaged 17.7 points per game, highlighted by a school record 48 counters vs. the College of Great Falls, and led the Saints in scoring 14 times. As a senior co-captain, Jack averaged 17.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, while pacing the team in the scoring column in nine contests.
In the 103-89 win over Lewis-Clark, he poured in 39 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, and set another CC record of 17 free throws in 21 attempts. Sanders finished with career marks of 17.4 ppg, 50% field goal and 77% free throw accuracies. He amassed twenty-one 20+ point games, and went over 30 markers three times. Coach Jim Trudnowski said “Jack Sanders is one of Carroll’s finest offensive performers.”
