Greg Ritter was a starting offensive lineman for the Saints’ gridders, from 1982-85. In four seasons, the durable Ritter did not miss a game or a play, according to former Carroll coach Bob Petrino. The 6-foot, 235-pounder was a two-time all-conference selection, making first team offensive guard in 1985.
As a sophomore, he was part of an O-line that enabled the Saints’ offense to average 393.4 yards per game, ranking 11th in the nation.
Ritter’s senior year, Carroll’s linemen were part of an offense which averaged 400 rushing yards and 36 points a game. They captured the Conference title with an 8-1 record, while qualifying for the 1985 NAIA playoffs.
