MacIntyre Becomes Full-Time Head Golf Coach

HELENA, Mont. – Carroll College athletics announced today that Associate Athletic Director Bennett MacIntyre has stepped down from his administration position to become the first full-time golf coach in Carroll College history.

"It's an exciting opportunity to really build our program and enhance the student-athlete experience," said Coach MacIntyre who recently signed six golfers for the upcoming school year.  "We play both a fall and spring season and now will have a full-time person devoted to the program just like every other sport at Carroll.  The athletes deserve that, and now we can focus our attention on trying to be the best in our conference and competing at a national level."

Since 2012, MacIntyre worked as the Associate AD and as the Executive Director of the Saints Athletic Association where he oversaw annual giving, fundraising, events and administration duties for the Carroll Athletics, all while coaching Saints Golf.

The Saints made an impressive run in that stretch, including the first Frontier Conference Championship in school history when the men brought home the conference tournament title in 2012 and qualified for the NAIA National Championships in Oregon. Jackie Mee won the women's individual title in 2013 and Connor Hausauer brought home medalist honors in 2014.

MacIntyre became the head golf coach in February of 2007 after being the assistant coach, and has worked multiple positions on Carroll's campus, including a job in student life as the Director of Community Living.

With MacIntyre's position change, every Carroll team has a full-time head coach.

"This move was made with our student-athletes in mind," Athletic Director Charlie Gross said.  "We want to put our head coaches in a position where they are able to be fully committed to meeting the needs of our student-athletes.  I want to thank Ben for serving in the dual role of administrator and coach and am very excited for both him and our student-athletes.  This move will pay huge dividends to our golf program and our department."

Carroll Athletics looks to move quickly to hire MacIntyre's replacement. To apply visit Carroll.edu/employment.
