HELENA, Mont. - Four Carroll College track and field athletes were named to the College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District 3 Track and Field and Cross Country team as voted on by Sports Information Directors in the district.
Leah Esposito,
Sandy Torres,
Lyle Pocha and
Beaugh Meyer were named to the team. Selection to the all-district team automatically qualifies the participants for nomination to the Academic All-America Team to be voted on later this month.
Esposito leads the way with a 4.0 in Biology. The two-time national champion was also winner of the 2015 A.O. Duer Award, the highest academic honor given by the NAIA. Esposito earned All-America honors in indoor track, outdoor track and cross country.
Torres finished her political science degree with a 3.71 GPA and closed out her career last Saturday with a third-place finish and a PR in the 800-meter run. She also earned All-America honors in indoor track and cross country.
Pocha finished his degree Chemistry with a 3.69 GPA, he also closed out his career Saturday with a second-place finish in the 1,500-meter run. He redshirted the outdoor season but finished ninth at cross country nationals.
Meyer redshirted this spring but he was named the National Field Athlete of the Week during the indoor season. He earned a trip to indoor nationals. He is also a member of the Carroll football team.
