HELENA, Mont. –  Former NCAA player, coach and current ESPN Analyst and radio host Dan Dakich will headline the third Carroll College men's basketball coaching clinic and dinner slated for Saturday and Sunday June 25-26 on campus at Carroll College.
 
Dakich is a lead college basketball analyst for ESPN TV and host of the Dan Dakich Show on ESPN 1070 The Fan in Indianapolis.
 
Sunday night, Dakich will speak at the basketball dinner at the Carroll Campus Center. Coaches, fans and broadcasters will all have something to learn from Dakich's experiences, which are extensive at all levels of basketball.
 
"Dan Dakich is a national voice on the college basketball scene as a leading college basketball analyst for ESPN and host of a popular ESPN radio show out of Indianapolis," Cunningham said. "The former head coach at Indiana and Bowling Green, is known for his tell-it-like-it-is approach. I think he's going to give folks in Helena a lively, spirited talk at our Carroll Men's Basketball dinner."
 
Prior to his time in broadcasting, he had an extensive career in college coaching. He was the interim head coach for his Alma Mater Indiana University in 2008 after the departure of Kelvin Sampson.
 
He was previously head coach at Bowling Green from 1997-2007. At BGSU, he tied for third all-time in victories among Falcon coaches with 156 and also was just one of three coaches in school history to post four 18-plus win seasons. He advanced to the NIT twice in 2000 and 2002.
 
Dakich spent 12 seasons on the IU coaching staff under Bob Knight from 1985-1997. He helped the Indiana program win 73.7 percent (283-101) of its games over the 12 years he served as an assistant coach. The Hoosiers won a national title in 1987 and earned a spot in the NCAA Championship in each of his 12 seasons. IU also captured four Big Ten titles while finishing third or better in nine of his 12 years.
 
Dakich played basketball at Indiana under Knight from 1982-85, and was team captain during his junior and senior seasons as the Hoosiers finished with an 84-39 record during his career. As a player, he helped Indiana win one Big Ten title, earn three NCAA Championship berths and finish as the NIT runner-up his season year. He is best remembered for his excellent defense against Michael Jordan in Indiana's upset over North Carolina in the 1984 NCAA East Regional.
 
He graduated from Indiana in 1985 with a degree in telecommunications.
 
Dakich graduated from Andrean High School in Merrillville, Ind., alma mater of Cunningham.
 
Dakich will be the keynote speaker at the coaching clinic held Saturday at the PE Center from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., The clinic will also feature Montana State head coach Brian Fish, National High School Basketball Coach of the Year Finalist Terry Thomas of Dillon and Carroll head coach Carson Cunningham.
