KANSAS CITY – Senior point guard
Katie Estey was named to the NAIA Division I Women's Basketball All-American Third-Team and sophomore Center
Cassidy Hashley received Honorable Mention honors when the teams were released by the association Thursday.
"I am really proud of our team in general," head coach
Rachelle Sayers said. "Being named to an All-American team is only possible when your team experiences success at a national level."
Estey as been a big part of that team success. She has played in 115 games during her career and ends with 784 career points.
"Katie has been to three National Tourneys and has battled through so much to get to where she is," Sayers said. "She deserved this and worked her tail off to be in this position. I am really happy that she has been recognized for her discipline and commitment to her team and getting better everyday."
Estey was second on the team with 11.6 points per game and tallied 90 assists on the season. She ranked 16th nationally in free throw percentage (.810). She was named to the Frontier Conference First-Team.
Hashley was team leader in points (12.4 PPG) and rebounds (8.4 RPG). She ranked 11th in the country for offensive rebounds per game (3.613), 17th for total rebounds (259) and 28th for rebounds per game (8.355). She was named to the All-Frontier Conference Second Team.
"Cassi is more than deserving of this honor," Sayers said. "She continues to produce even though she is doubled teamed every time she touches the ball. She just keeps working! I am so excited to coach her for another two years. She has gone to two National Tournaments in two years and both times she has stepped on the floor and has performed. She will leave her mark on this program when it is all said and done."
